The Amulet of Tenebrae

He stood, walking over grabbing his shoes and vest, "Of course I can." he said, "I know what the place looks like now." he clicked his neck, "Are you ready to go and look is the real question?" he said, slipping his vest back on and got his shoes back on. "Going at night will be the best time to look, since the Gates ar emost active during the darkest time of the day."

Kendra nodded, "Yeah I'm ready...you'll be with me so I have no reason to be afraid." She said mostly to reassure herself. "Should we let Carter know where we're going?" She asked Rass.

I'll be out the front of the house, i need the room to do this." he said, leaving the ballroom. He headed on the front door and got waiting for kendra to come join him, so they could be off.

Carter was in kitchen prepping something for dinner later, "You two about to scurry off to the school?" he asked, figuring that they would go do so sooner than later.

"Okay I'll meet you out front soon." Rassler went on ahead and Kendra went to her room to grab a few things. She got her backpack that had her student ID in it just in case they were spotted for some strange reason. She also had her phone with her and the amulet around her neck as always.

She walked past the kitchen and heard Carter call out to her. "Yes, we'll be careful. I have my phone with me in case things get really bad I'll call you. Take good care of Ruth while we're gone." She waved to him and went out the front door to meet Rass. He was standing in the middle of the huge front yard. She walked up to him, "I'm ready if you are..." She said.

"Be EXTRA careful and on your toes, Night time makes you more likely to run into danger, keep close to Rassler and don't get separated from each other." he said to her, Carter wish he could go, but he had to be sure to protect Ruth and the manor while they were gone. Rass was waiting with arms crossed, getting his composure calm and settled, getting his mind ready for anything that would possibly be waiting for them.

He looked to the door and she came out, he held his hand to her, "Come here then." pulling her to him and against his body and they vanished away from the manor grounds and arrived inside the girls locker room.

Kendra nodded and took his hand. She let him pull her close to him and she held onto him. She hid her face before they teleported to the school not wanting to get dizzy this time. Once she felt the magic settle down and her feet touch the ground she lifted her head and looked around. They were standing in front of her locker in the girls locker room. It was pitch dark in there. There were no lights or windows to even let natural light in.

"I can't see anything..." She said staying close to Rassler. "Where should we start looking?" She asked.

Rassler let her got and looked around, He could see everything with his eyesight, but he remembered she couldn't. He snapped his fingers and make a little will-o-whisp to light up their surroundings, "It will light the way, but i can see without it." he told her. "...........Well, its not here, I would have sensed something last time.....You said a lot of fucking happens here with the girls...do you know where they happens the most?" he asked, it seemed like an odd question.

Kendra blinked and looked around when she could finally see. She knew they were in a large room from the echoes. She looked and saw her last name on her locker. "We're in the girls locker room." The small ball of light left Rass' hand and floated in front of them. He said it would guide them. He asked her where most of the incidents occurred and she thought for a moment.

"The locations were a bit scattered, but they mostly centered around one of the abandoned buildings. It was used as a temporary location while parts of the school were being renovated several years ago. It is used for storage now." She said. It is on the other side of the track outside this way." She pointed to the door that led out to the gym. "Let's go." She walked slowly staying within the lit area so she could still see.

He followed her along as they walked out of the locker room and out into the main hall, heading the way that she was explaining about, "Portals when they open and close, expel certain dark energies, which can make humans violent, psychotic, highly sexual or sadistic." he explained.

Kendra walked down the main hall until the came to one of the exits that led outside. "That explains all the incidents that happened...there were a lot of guys from the neighboring all boys school sneaking over here too. They were caught with girls in the abandoned buildings. A lot of girls would also fight and it got really violent to the point some had to go to the hospital..."

Kendra led Rass to the edge of the huge track. She pointed to a few old buildings on the other side. "That's it over there. Can you sense anything?" She asked feeling the wind pick up a bit and the smell of the air changed. Rain was coming. She was suddenly feeling really uneasy.

"......the portals affect humans greatly since you absorb the negative energy so easily....and then demons feed off that energy format he portal and the humans around it." he explained more as the kept moving, the whisp still lighting the way. He had her stop so he could see if he could feel anything, there was a slight vibration. "......THe amulet should allow you feel what I'm feeling.......tell me, do you feel a vibration?"

Kendra stopped and focused on the amulet around her neck. It was slight, but she did feel the vibration from the amulet. "Yes...I feel it. It feels like it is coming from straight ahead..." They started walking across the track and came to the fence that surrounded it. Kendra was able to climb over it easily enough on her own.

The vibration seemed to get stronger the closer they got. "It feel it getting stronger..." She said.

"Follow it then." he said, as he went along with her, sensing it getting stronger the closer they got to the old building. He jumped over the fence as well. He could feel how heavy with darkness this place was, ".....Tell me.....did someone or some people die here?" he asked.

Kendra nodded and followed the vibrations coming from the amulet as they got closer and closer to the old buildings. She was drawn to one in particular. It was pretty worn down and looked to be in the worst shape. Rass's question caught her a little off guard, but it did strike a cord.

"Well...I thought it was just a stupid rumor, but I did hear from some of the previous graduates that this school was built over an old battlefield." She explained as they came to the building that the amulet seemed to lead her to. "The amulet is reacting very strongly now...it must be in here..." She said looking over at Rass.

"........That might have made the portal in the first place, only when a LARGE and i mean LARGE amount dark energy makes them." he said, "That battle would have done it." he said, feeling all the death round them, "Can you feel the pressure?" he asked her. "Remember it....this is how YOU know to feel for a portal." he said, "Yeah....most likely will be int here.....stay close." they headed on to the building and got looking for a way in.

Kendra could feel the pressure. It was like almost like gravity had increased and she could feel the energy pushing against her. "It's pretty intense..." She said. She made sure to stay close to Rassler as they walked around looking for a way inside. There were chains around the door, but there were a few loose boards that they could squeeze through.

"Rassler! Over here. I think we can get in this way." The wisp went ahead in and lit up the inside so she could see. With Kendra's small frame, she was able to get through easily. Once inside, she looked around. It was covered in dust and the building wasn't exactly stable. There were old lockers all around as well as broken desks and chairs.

"It's getting stronger again. I think it is in the center..." She said.

He followed her to here she slipped through, "Hey, don't go in!" he sighed, "You know I could break the lock." he said dryly. He traced a line in the shape and height of a door, on the wall and pushed it, the line had cut out a door and he closed it and the line vanished, showing no sign of disturbance outside the building. He sighe,d "If you KNOW we're going someone dangerous, DON'T go in first." he sighed. He looked around, his sight allowing him to see their surroundings, "What was this building for?"

"It is much stronger here.....but it feels like its beneath us." he said.

Kendra turned around when she saw Rassler walk through a door he created using his magic. "You couldn't have mentioned that you could do that little trick BEFORE I wiggled through?" She sighed. "Relax. I'm fine. You were just on the other side of the wall."

Once they were inside, she looked around at all the random stuff that was stored in the building. "It was used as a temporary classroom, but not I guess it is just usex for storage." They made their way to rhetoric center of the room. "Yeah, I feel it too. As if the vibrations are coming feom beneath the ground..."

"You went on ahead BEFORE I could say anything." he reminded. "A WALL could be the only thing that separates me from you when you're in trouble....ESPECIALLY near a gate. But no time to argue." he sighed.

The whisp light things around them up, the place was OLD and not many people went in here any more unless they were sneaking in. "Sex storage...." he got a shudder and he physically showed it, "Fuck that energy to overpowering....this gate is very close to opening.... VERY close." he said, "Let's find the stairs."

Kendra saw him shudder, "A lot of students were caught having sex in here with guys from the other academy or two girls would be caught having sex. This is the hangout where a lot of students would get into trouble."

"I think there is a set of stairs somewhere that leads to additional storage down below." Hidden in a corner was a set of steel steps that led into darkness.

"Any reason they don't just pull it down? it doesn't look like the school barely uses it for anything." he said. He looked around with his night vision and spotted the stairs with her, "Let me walk down first." he said, wanting to check the strength of them since this place was so old and almost to the point of rundown. He careful made his way down the steps, checking if it was taking his weight, until he was at the bottom, "Its good, come down." he said.

"I have no idea. I guess it can't be demolished because it is a crime scene technically." There was remnants of crime scene tape on the floor and around the whole building. That was also why the front doors were chained shut.

Kendra stood at the top of the stairs and dared not go down. She pressed her foot on the first step and it creaked loudly. It felt a little unstable. "Okay...you can go first. Be careful..."

She lost site of him when he left the light of the wisp the farther down he went. When he said it was alright, she walked down slowly. When she reached the last few steps, one gave way beneath her and she fell forward. She tried to catch herself on the railing, but she just grabbed a ragged piece of steel and cut her palm. "Ahhh! Rassler!!" She instinctively called out his name.

"......then no one would come here unless its for mischief or to get into trouble." said Rassler.

He jumped after hearing her crying out his name, he vanished and caught her before appearing back on the bottom floor. He held her close seeing the broken step all cracked and broken. He sighed, "That step took my weight...what happened?" he looked to her bleeding hand, "Fuck." he sighed. He then licked at her cut hand to recent infection happening at this time. He helped up to her feet and checked the rest of her over, "Are you alright?" He asked, still looking her over.

Kendra closed her eyes preparing for impact just in case Rass didn't catch her in time. Thankfully, he did and she was safe in his arms. When she opened her eyes to look at him, they were safely on the ground at the bottom of the stairs. "I...I don't know. I just felt the step give way and I fell-mmm!" She winced when she felt pain in her hand.

"I must have just cut myself when I fell...Hey, what are you doing!?!" She felt his tongue glide over her bloody palm and clean it off. It didn't hurt and the pain slowly started to fade away. "You have healing abilities too?" She looked at him while he put her down and looked her over for more injuries. "Rassler, it's alright I'm fine. I didn't get hurt anywhere else thanks to you." She said.

Once they were finally downstairs the air around them started to change. It was suffocating almost. Little did they know that waiting on the other side of the gate was the demon lord himself and a few of his demon pets. Dementia was there as well.

"I'm quite pleased you decided to consider my offer if it helped you get the girl." Dementia chuckled sitting on the arm of Vorkalth's throne beside him, running her long fingers through his hair. "With her mother under my spell, she will have no choice but to surrender. Meanwhile, I will take care of the young nuisance Rassler and keep him out of the way for you." She smirked.

"How do you think I recover so much quicker than you?" he asked dryly, satisfied that she was alright. He sighed in relief, but he passed feeling the dark energy around, "That fucking gate is close by......do you want to keep going?" he asked her, getting unsure now.

Vorkalth rolled his eyes when she sat on the arm of his throne as he was watching them getting closer and closer to the gate. "How about I send some entertainment to see just how on his feet he really is?" he smirked "and you can have fun with the leftovers of him." he really wanted Rassler out of the picture entirely.
